Chaps Is Sweet

Chaps is shown with Making Miracles on Saturdays but is a Silver Lake Rescue dog. To make sure Chaps is there please contact suzettegysel@madison-heights.org or you can email slarl@yahoo.com..

This is Chaps. She is about 8 months to a year old and weighs about 35 lbs. She is short and stout. Maybe Jack Russell/staffy mix. We are not sure since she came into the shelter as a stray and no one came looking for her. She is a high energy dog who loves to go for walks and LOVES playing with toys. She loves other dogs and will play bow when she meets them to engage them in play. She likes cats but would probably chase them to play which would probably scare a cat.

We do not know if she is housebroken since she is in a cage at the shelter but she tries to hold it as best she can until she gets let out to go potty. If she goes into a foster home or permanent home, crate training would be good for her in case she is not totally housebroken. This will teach her to hold it until she can go outside. A fenced in yard would be ideal for her so that she can run around and play. Because she is very active, no small children (under 5) please as she may knock them down in her joyful play!!

She has been learning tricks while at the shelter. She now knows how to sit and shake. She will sit really nice when you put her leash on and wait for you to open the door to take her out for a walk. Her favorite game is chasing sticks or toys and bringing them back. We are working on getting her to "release". She is eager to please and has a heart of gold.

If interested, please contact Suzette at suzettegysel@madison-heights.org or you can email slarl@yahoo.com. She will be spayed and will be up to date on shots when she is adopted or goes into a foster home.

We show some of our adoptable dogs at PetSmart, Utica, each Saturday between the hours of 11:00am and 3:00pm.  Cats typically don't do well at events, so they only attend with a pre-approved meet and greet appointment. If you are interested in a particular pet, we suggest you email: mmarpaws@gmail.com to see if that pet will be there.

Applications are approved on the basis of the best and most appropriate home for the animal, not on a first come, first served basis. On site adoption available to pre-approved applicants only.

Adoption fees go towards vaccines, heartworm prevention/testing, flea/tick prevention, spay/neuter and other medical problems that may arise.

MMAR is an all volunteer, foster based, 501 (c) 3, non profit organization. Without your donation, wonderful pets like these have to be passed by because we cannot afford their care.
